Yifan Xu is a master’s student at the Center for East Asian Studies at Stanford University. His main field of study is international relations and security with a focus on the Asia-Pacific. In particular, he is interested in the U.S. alliance system in the region and its response to the rise of China. At DigiChina, Yifan’s interest is how digital technology and the economy impact China’s domestic authoritarian resilience and international competitiveness, and how the Chinese government maneuvers its relations with digital/IT companies to achieve its policy goals. Prior to Stanford, he lived and studied in China, Japan, and Canada. He holds a B.A. in International Relations.
