Sam is an analyst of China who focuses on emerging topics in China’s technological economy, including the semiconductor industry and cyber regulation, as well as the translation of CCP policy documents and speeches. More broadly, he is interested in how China's political ideology and history bear on new issues in China’s domestic and international context.
Sam worked for several years in private sector consulting at Bain & Company in London and Sydney, and as a Chinese translator and political analyst. He has a B.A. from Oxford University and an M.A. from Stanford University in East Asian Studies. He also completed Chinese language training at National Taiwan University as a New Zealand Prime Minister’s Scholar.
